Great Falls Chapter

Hello Everyone,

Thank You to everyone who attended the meeting last Thursday night. Everyone deserves a medal for enduring that long, long meeting. It’s a necessary thing since we are carefully and cautiously spending our monies for this next year and beyond. I actually believe the meeting went well and we accomplished a lot. Very reassuring to see the interest members have in all the things we do!News and Upcoming Events!

**The fish fry scheduled for the Harvest Moon Brewery in Belt for tomorrow, Friday Mar 13th has been cancelled due to expected weather events. Will be rescheduled and announced.

**Next Thursday our speaker will be Cody Nagel, FWP biologist in Havre and the Hi-Line. Cody will give us the scoop about Fresno, and more fisheries in his district. Please plan on attending and show Cody that his trip from Havre is much appreciated. Food at 6:30 pm and presentation at 7 pm. Cody will stay as long as you have questions, but the normal presentation is about an hour.

**Our April 2nd, business meeting will be at 7pm. We will have voting to do, so need attendance for a quorum!

**We still need a speaker for April 16th. Any ideas? Fire them at me and we can see what we can arrange. Food at 6:30 and meeting at 7.

**May 7th, business meeting. Lots to discuss before taking our break from meetings starting in June.

**May 21st, we have Adam Geik, FWP biologist in Great Falls coming to talk about local fisheries and I asked specifically about pike in the Missouri River. His presentation is short, so can be combined with another speaker if anyone has any ideas. Food, 6:30, meeting at 7.

**May 29/30 is the Tiber Tournament! Gonna be a little different this year and the chapter is taking the reins again. Tammy Pyrah is still in charge of the tournaments and will do what she has always done, but I’ve been working with her on a couple things that perhaps will entice more participation in the tournament! We will need some hands-on workers up there!

**I would like to ask everyone to start thinking about the sustainability of the chapter and how we are going to manage that! We need to make some major decisions before we break for the summer. As you know when we return in Sept, we start banquet planning immediately and there are even some things happening during the summer for parts of it. We are going to broach this subject in full at our May 7th meeting so please start thinking about what you would like to see as the future of the Great Falls Chapter.

Thank You, Robbi

We have pavillions at Wadsworth Pond in Great Falls! This has been an on going project that the Great Falls Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited of Montana got the momentum started and we are so thankful that we have gained community support! The Great Falls chapter started this project by purchasing and installing a double vaulted toilet. Now the community also has a new handicap accessible dock and picnic pavilions. This spring we have committed the funds to purchase trees as a windbreak for the pavillions.

Thanks again to Howard and Shawna Strause for making this possible and to all our coalition partners! Sun River Watershed Group, Missouri River Flyfishers, Electric City Disc Golf Club, Fish, Wildlife and Parks, and Great Falls Park and Recreation.
